Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana
Reconciliation Statement Statement:
Great Falls, MT
June 22, 2003
            Both the incumbent Little Shell Tribal Council and their challengers, known as the "Little Shell Seven", who have been involved in a tribal council election dispute for the past three years, met jointly on Sunday June 22 in Great Falls to bring a resolution to the dispute.
The Terms of the agreement are as follows:
- Mistakes were admittedly made by both sides in the dispute.
- A blanket amnesty will be granted for individuals on both sides regarding any actions pertaining to the election of 2000.
- Previous council decisions, resolutions and actions pertaining to the 2000 election will be rescinded.
- Both parties agree to adhere to the results of the next tribal council election.
- On July 12, a general meeting of tribal members will meet in Great Falls to discuss and design aspects of the next tribal election to be held on August 9, 2003.
The above agreement is signed by the following tribal members from both parties in the spirit of cooperation and with unity of purpose in obtaining Federal Recognition for the Little Shell Chippewa Tribe.

Toni Jo Atchison, Little Shell Tribal Tobacco Abuse Prevention Specialist has announced that the Tribal newsletter is FREE to all Enrolled Tribal Members. Previously, a subscription of $10 was required for the newsletter and was published quartely. The subscription cost covered monies that funded the creation, mailing of the newsletter, along with helping with office expenses. Now, with funding provided in part under a contract with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program, and the Little Shell Tobacco Abuse Prevention Program, the Newsletter will be published 12 months a year. To place your name on the List for the newsletter (if you do not currently receive it), contact Toni Jo at the main office or write a letter requesting your name to be placed on it. Tribal and Non-Tribal members are still welcome and are encourgaged to send donations to the Office to help with tribal expenses.
